The Dark Side has a very real pull, both in the world of Star Wars and on the streets of New York City.

We already know what forces an otherwise good-natured Jedi to become a Sith, but what pushes New Yorkers over the edge? According to the artists behind Dark Side NYC, the list includes manspreading, the L train, expensive coffee and unaffordable real estate, among other NYC frustrations. So they're plastering posters that uncover paths to the metaphorical dark side across the city.

The project creators -- who wish to remain anonymous -- told Mashable via email that the series is a personal one, with no affiliation to Disney or the Star Wars franchise.

"The Force has never been stronger than now," they wrote. "This is an ideal chance to uncover the many paths that lead to the Dark Side. With the film coming out this weekend, we want to identify these frustrations and help people resist the Dark Side, or choose to embrace it."
