Instagram users experienced service issues when trying to access both the desktop and mobile website on Friday afternoon, but it's now back up and running.
According to DownDetector.com, Instagram first started service issues as early as 11:05 a.m. ET on Friday afternoon, but by 4:45 p.m., an onset of complaints started to bubble up on Twitter, with many not able to access the popular photo-sharing site at all. By 5:10 p.m. ET, the platforms appeared to be working again.

Instagram was quick to acknowledge the issue via tweet: "We're aware of an issue affecting Instagram, and working on a fix. Thanks for your patience."
As with any social media site outage, many took to other platforms like Twitter to discuss their distress:
