As if airline travel wasn't hellish enough, now it seems the Internet may intrude fully into the little tube shaped piece of hell. More airlines are looking to add Internet access while we're in the air, but they are wrestling with the conundrum of just how much access to give the passengers.

It seems in Europe they are going to the insane extreme of allowing Skype calls on Wi-Fi enabled handsets, and in some places they are even allowing cell calls. In the United States we seem to be leaning more towards the more restrictive side of things with no phone calls of any kind, and possible filters for violent and pornographic sites. While some restrictions are a good idea, going the route JetBlue did to allow only access to Yahoo is a bit much.

Personally, while I obviously make my living on the Internet, I am asleep before th plane even takes off usually, so the idea of someone in the seat next to me screaming "What? WHAT?!?" for the entire flight is less than appealing.
