This Tech Lets You See Through Your Car's Back Seat [VIDEO]

There's a scene in 2002's 007 epic Die Another Day where James Bond, played by Pierce Brosnan, is escaping a terrorist in his signature, decked-out-to-the-max Aston Martin "Vanquish." With the click of a button, Bond and the vehicle disappear, becoming completely invisible to the pursuing villain.

With that (sort of) in mind, researcher Masahiko Inami from Keio University in Tokyo developed a camera system to let drivers "see through" the backs of their cars.

Here's how it works: Two cameras are mounted on the trunk of a car. The view from the rear is then projected onto the backseats through a camera on the driver's seat headrest -- giving the illusion that the back of the car is invisible. Its overall goal is to make parking and reversing easier.

Of course, it wouldn't work very well if there were backseat passengers. Inami and his team are currently talking to Japanese manufacturing companies about putting the system into full production.
