Involver Offers Personal Event Recommendations

Involver is a site that helps you find local events based on your preferences. Its beta went live earlier this year, and it's also received funding from some unnamed backers of YouTube.

Right when you sign up, you have the opportunity to ad tags to your profile so that Involver can provide personal recommendations for you. When you perform a search, each result lets you do several actions: add the event to your calendar, add it to your watch list, invite friends, buy tickets, leave a comment, or find similar events. Images can be included in comments, and the profile page for an event can be edited by users. This profile page also has a map, displays all comments, and also displays a detailed list of the attendees, broken down by who's attending, who's watching, and who's not going.

This site is also for you to plan events. On your own profile page you can see the events that your friends have added to their profile and are planning as well. All of your personal recommendations are shown on your profile page, and are broken down by day, week, and later in the future. The calendar can be integrated with your iCal as well. There is an entirely separate section for promoters to manage their online marketing campaigns. As sophisticated and involved as this system is, however, I'm surprised to see no widgets or mobile integration.

Similar sites include BandsInTown, BandTracker and Attendio.
