The new OS arrives hours before millions of Apple customers start receiving their shiny, new iPhone 4S’s, which look exactly like the iPhone 4, but with almost all new guts. iOS 5 is a significant operating system update that promises improved notifications, integrated Siri voice recognition, over-the-air-updates, AirDrop (file moving from one iOS5 device to another) and iCloud. Apple’s cloud solution could be the biggest change of all for Apple customers. Finally, no more reinstalling apps and re-downloading music. Even documents and photos will be synchronized across iOS 5 devices.

Some, but not all of these improvements will work quite well on existing hardware like the iPhone 4. As a result, countless Apple fans are already downloading and getting their first iOS 5 experiences. The first iOS 5 install, by the way, does have to be done through the computer.
In fact, Mashable is right in there with you. Intrepid editor and gadget fiend Christina Warren is busy working with iOS on an iPad and iPhone 4 and has delivered a massive report. Christina, though, is just one person. We want to know: What has your iOS 5 install and update experience has been like. Is your hardware still working? Is it better than ever?
