Is the iPad Air's 7.5 mm thickness just too much for you? Don't worry -- leaked photos purport to show an even thinner iPad Air 2 prototype.

Apple's latest tablet is reportedly just 7 mm thick, its thinnest model yet. That's roughly the same thickness of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, which clock in at 6.9 and 7.1 mm thick, respectively. Gadgets always seem to be getting thinner, so this isn't exactly unexpected.

The images supposedly showing the iPad Air 2 were posted on Korean tech blog Tinhte, and it looks a lot like its predecessor. The most obvious addition is the inclusion of Touch ID, a fingerprint sensor, which is believed to make its iPad debut soon.

The pictured device doesn't seem to include a mute switch, which is present on the current iPad Air's side. Keep in mind that, if these images are legitimate, they most likely show a prototype version of the iPad Air 2, so don't expect what hits shelves to look exactly like this. No word yet on if the iPad Air 2 will be available in gold.

Apple is rumored to hold an iPad event on Oct. 16, so it looks like we won't have to wait long for the company's official word on the matter.
