Although there are no enormous lines and huge crowds in front of stores, the iPhone virus is spreading through Europe. It goes on sale in France today at 18:00, with France Telecom's Orange carrying the exclusive rights, at the price at 749 euros (or 649 euros if you trust Wired) - if you want to be able to use it with any mobile provider. This is a lot cheaper than in Germany, where T-Mobile is offering the unlocked version for a hefty sum of 999 euros.

Those who choose a locked iPhone can get it for 549 euros, or 399 euros if they opt for a user subscription with Orange. The interest in the device is great for European standards: Orange claims that they already have 50.000 orders for the iPhone.
