Apple released an update to its iPhone software today that once installed, appears to make unlocked phones no longer function properly. The update, which adds Apple’s Wi-Fi Music store and several new security features to the device, apparently tells users of unlocked phones to install a valid SIM card after the new software is loaded.
The news isn’t surprising since Apple warned earlier this week that unlocked phones may void your warranty. If you haven’t downloaded the updated iPhone software yet and want to “re-lock” your phone, there is apparently a last-ditch solution for trying to un-do the potential damage.
