Despite never revealing an exact release date, Apple has started shipping its latest batch of iPod models to those who pre-ordered them, a company spokesperson confirmed to Mashable.

Shipments of the fifth-generation iPod touch along with the seventh-generation iPod nano left facilities in China on Tuesday and are currently making their way to customers. The devices are expected to arrive early next week.

The iPod touch -- made of anodized aluminum and weighing just 3.1 ounces -- is 0.24 of an inch thick and is almost as slim as the latest iPod nano. It's also the first time the iPod touch touts a rear iSight camera and voice-command Siri capabilities.

Meanwhile, the new nano features the a taller display that has "retina" pixel density similar to the iPhone. It also boats a dual-core A5 processor, which brings speeds twice as fast as the previous model (although it's still behind the iPhone 5's A6 processor).
