Iranian president says he's always supported social media

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani praised young Iranians for using social media to support the Iran Deal during a televised speech on Sunday.

His speech extolled the benefits of the deal, which will lift international sanctions against Iran in exchange for curbing the nation's ability to develop nuclear weapons. Rouhani said he was grateful for the online support.

Rouhani also said he has always been against limiting the use of social media for Iranians.

Such comments from the Iranian president are always likely to generate attention in a nation that often taken an antagonistic approach to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other social media platforms. All three of those sites are blocked in Iran, though plenty of people circumvent the blocks every day.
