LONDON -- J. K. Rowling has probably received some strange invites in her time, but none as strange as this.
Exeter University in Devon are lucky enough to count Rowling amongst their alumni and this week they put their connections to use by inviting the author to the institution's annual Safer Sex Ball, which requires attendees to dress in their underwear.
In an interview with The Tab, the event's organiser, Pierre G H Keyzar, extended the invitation to Rowling by means of a free ticket to the ball: "If you’re reading this and fancy re-visiting Exeter, hit us up Jo."
Unfortunately, Jo wasn't feeling it.
Thanks for the kind invitation! I've got a feeling I'm three decades too old to enjoy this, but you have fun! https://t.co/LVyfCezFXb— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) October 13, 2015
Will Pierre put J. K. under the Imperius Curse to get her to the party? Only time will tell.
Even if Exeter can't get their most famous student to return for the event, it's all for a good cause; The Safer Sex Ball has a long history of donating its proceeds to a local HIV and sexual health charity, The Eddystone Trust.
