JabAbout Launches New Messaging Game for Facebook

JabAbout is a new messaging game for Facebook. It works by allowing you to first assign a “distance” to your friends (a numerical rating of how close a friend they are), and then sending a message (called a “Jab”) that travels through your network of friends, friends of friends, etc. You earn points for Jabs you receive and open, and can then use those points to make your messages reach even more people. Messages travel faster between close friends than strangers.

At first glance, JabAbout appears a little spammy – the type of application Facebook is trying to weed out with some changes to the platform announced late last month. The application’s creators argue that JabAbout is not spam, since if you don’t open a Jab, it will not be forwarded along to your friends. Since email notifications are currently removed from all Facebook applications, the worst case is getting lots of unwanted messages in your Facebook inbox.
