Teenage Cancer Researcher Joins Social Good Summit

Do you think a teenager can change the world? According to teenage cancer researcher Jack Andraka, who will be joining this year's Social Good Summit, the question should instead be: Why can't a teenager change the world?

Jack's story begins in high school when, after losing a close family member to pancreatic cancer, he invented a sensor to detect pancreatic, ovarian and lung cancers quickly and early. After reaching out to about 200 research professionals to develop his test, Dr. Anirban Maitra at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine welcomed Jack into his lab to develop tests of his hypothesis for an early cancer detection sensor. Since then, he has won the Gordon E. Moore award, named for IBM's co-founder, and the Ingenuity Youth Award from the Smithsonian Institute, among others.

This September, the 2013 Social Good Summit is bringing together people from around the world to make a positive change for #2030NOW. Jack Andraka will be joined at the 2013 Social Good Summit by influencers and activists such as Ian Somerhalder, Al Gore and astronaut Ron Garan.
