American comedian Jack Black has given Australia's Prime Minister Tony Abbott a serve.

Speaking to Dan and Maz on 2DayFm radio Thursday morning, Black was queried about Abbott and the leader's stance against marriage equality.

On Tuesday, Abbott refused politicians a conscience vote -- where they can vote by their views, rather than party line -- on the issue of same-sex marriage in Australia. A vote to decide whether a conscience vote would happen was put to his Liberal party and the conservative National party and was overruled 66 to 33.

Black was promoting his television show "Brink," which focusses on world problems and premiered in Australia recently, when he was told about Abbott's policies. The legendary comic set humour aside, to give it straight to Dan and Maz.

"I personally think the guy is living in the stone ages, if he is not seeing the writing on the wall. The movement of the world is heading towards equality for all people, all sexual preferences," Black said. "Come on, we are all the same in the end, who cares what gives you a boner."

Abbott is accustomed to making unpopular decisions. People are still consumed with the fact he eats raw onions for fun. Black said, in relation to the onion eating: "He sounds like a bit of a nutter." We report, you decide.
