Founded ten years ago, JamBase began as an online resource for live music events, and today the site is announcing the milestone of reaching 1 million live music show listings to its database. If you go to the JamBase site you'll see a mix of user-generated content with information on various artists in the music industry. Articles on these artists include user-driven discussion forums and comments as well. This is all for the purpose of helping you search and discover music that's interesting to you, as well as events that are coming to your home town.
In its ten years of existence, JamBase has grown to include a social network and a recommendation tool, with a long term goal of providing near real-time information about live music performances. There are a series of action items you can take as a visitor or a registered member, from purchasing tickets to building up your own event calendar based on shows you'd like to see. Similar to Going.com, you can also see other members that are going to a particular event as well.

Last year looked to be a pretty good year for JamBase, with a reported 500,000 users, 40,000 artists, 50 genres, and 50,000 venues worldwide. JamBase is reporting an 89% increase in show listings from 2006 to 2007, so it appears that the growing outlets online for sharing music information, and the layering in of various community, iTunes-integrated and action-based features made available to users has paid off, most significantly in the past two years.
