Last year, it was Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron's bombshell girlfriend who stole his thunder during the BCS National Championship.
This year, it's McCarron's mother Dee Dee who's making national news for a derisive tweet about Florida State superstar Jameis Winston.

Winston led his Florida State team on a last-second, game-winning drive to win an instant classic over Auburn, taking home college football's national title in Monday night's BCS championship. Immediately following the game, he gave an emotional, overjoyed interview in which his words weren't always easy to decipher.
Fans and trolls across Twitter were quick to crack jokes about Winston's diction, but Dee Dee McCarron drew the most attention for a quickly deleted tweet that read: "Am I listening to English?”
Dee Dee has more than 20,000 Twitter followers, so the joke was far from unnoticed. She issued this apology immediately after deleting the tweet:
Any1 that knows our family knows we r far from racist. My tweet was not in anyway meant that way. I sincerely apologize if it offended any1— Dee Dee McCarron (@DeeDeeBonner) January 7, 2014
Winston addressed the mockery -- also, of course, via Twitter -- on Tuesday:
For the people that criticize the way that I talk this is for y'all. The Florida state Seminoles are national champions! That is all.— Jameis Winston (@Jaboowins) January 7, 2014
For what it's worth, Winston also scored a 4.0 grade-point-average in high school. Here's his post-game interview:
