James Franco is coming back to TV.

Hulu and Warner Bros. TV announced on Thursday that the Academy Award-nominated actor will star in the upcoming Hulu series based on Stephen King's 2011 book 11/22/63.

Franco, who serves as a producer on the project, will play high school English teacher Jake Epping, a man who travels back in time to prevent the assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy.

The nine-hour series, announced back in September, does not yet have a premiere date.

The series, which is also being made with support from J.J. Abrams' film and television production company Bad Robot, will be Franco's first true starring role on a TV show in quite some time (see: Freaks and Geeks). However, he's never been one to shy away from recurring roles.

In recent years, the Interview actor has appeared on The Mindy Project, Nick at Nite's long-gone primetime soap Hollywood Heights and General Hospital. He also had a short-form digital series on AOL called Making a Scene with James Franco.
