LOS ANGELES -- Janet Jackson accepted the Ultimate Icon honor at the BET Awards after a fiery dance tribute of "Pleasure Principle," "All For You," "If" and "Rhythm Nation."
Tinashe, Jason Derulo and Ciara took turns channeling their best Jackson moves before joining forces at the end for the 49-year-old entertainer's classic "Rhythm Nation."
"It's been a very long journey to this moment -- my heart so full," Jackson said in her acceptance speech (watch here) in which she also thanked God, BET, her parents and family. "Twenty-five years ago we created 'Rhythm Nation' hoping the world would be a better place. But today there's even more to be done. Last but not least, to my loving husband and to all the fans. I've missed you much and I love you so much."
Jackson, who is already planning to release her first studio album in seven years this fall, will also embark on a world tour starting Aug. 31.
She released "No Sleeep," her first new song in seven years, earlier this month.
