Jared Leto shared an emotional story Sunday night at the American Music Awards about his band, 30 Seconds to Mars, performing at the Bataclan in Paris a year before it was the location of a terrorist attack.
Leto attended the award show to introduce Celine Dion, who performed Edith Piaf's "Hymne à L'Amour" as a tribute to the victims of Paris' Nov. 13 attacks.

During his introduction, Leto called the Bataclan "beautiful, peaceful and unforgettable" and spoke about the victims, including label rep Thomas Ayad.
He went on to say, "France matters, Russia matters, Syria matters, Mali matters ... The entire world matters, and peace is possible."
More than 130 people were killed and more than 350 injured in a combination of mass shootings and suicide bombs in the attacks.
Leto also briefly mentioned the controversy over Syrian refugees in the U.S.
