JaseZone is an example of a website that comes about from two people sitting around and saying "You know, that LinkedIn sure is popular... we could do that!" Or, at least I want to blame the idea for it on a night of drinking with a buddy, otherwise this fairly sad excuse of a site doesn't have much of a defense.

The concept is a simple one: A place for people to do business networking across industries, old colleagues, people you went to school with and so on. Or, as their "About JZ" page says, "Your network consists of your JASEfriends, your JASEfriends' JASEfriends, and the people they know, linking you to thousands of friends." Linking? Where have I heard that term before...

It's not just the visual features that are wonky (yes, I know it's a beta... everything is a "beta"), when I entered Mashable as my place of employment, it showed up six times in my, very bland, profile page. No clue why, but it did.

I could go one for quite awhile about this site and my dislikes of it, but suffice to say it wasn't ready for public viewing, and first impressions are everything. Maybe LinkedIn will get some worthy competition in the professional social networking space, but this sure wasn't it.
