Orange Is the New Black actor Jason Biggs is facing criticism after tweeting an insensitive joke about Thursday's Malaysia Airlines crash in Ukraine. He made matters worse by calling his critics "assholes" and "pussies."

According to Interfax, the plane was shot down by a missile while 295 passengers were onboard.

Biggs reacted to the incident by tweeting to his some 440,000 followers, "Anyone wanna buy my Malaysian Airlines frequent flier miles?"

In all seriousness, tho- HOW DO YOU MISTAKENLY SHOOT DOWN A COMMERCIAL PLANE?! Ugh.— Jason Biggs (@JasonBiggs) July 17, 2014

It's saddest for the victims and their families, obviously. But Malaysia Airlines is apparently a GREAT airline. Gonna be tough to recover.— Jason Biggs (@JasonBiggs) July 17, 2014

Hey all you "too soon" assholes- it's a fucking joke. You don't have to think it's funny, or even be on my twitter page at all.— Jason Biggs (@JasonBiggs) July 17, 2014

The idea that I wouldnt have any empathy 4 the victims or their families because I make a joke is absolutely ridiculous. U know that, right?— Jason Biggs (@JasonBiggs) July 17, 2014

Truly- you losers are literally trying to find shit to get angry about. Channel your issues elsewhere.— Jason Biggs (@JasonBiggs) July 17, 2014

@Bobby_Blight: @JasonBiggs I'll be sure to laugh when u suffer a family tragedy.” Please do! I hope I can laugh during my family tragedy 2!— Jason Biggs (@JasonBiggs) July 17, 2014

Some supported the joke, although they were not in the majority. The 36-year-old, best known for his role in the American Pie film franchise, promptly retweeted his supporters.

@JasonBiggs I cracked jokes the day my dad died, humor trumps tragedy. Ur recent tweets made me wanna follow u. Well done!— Aaron Bird (@aaronbird2005) July 17, 2014

That last guy is the kind of person I want following me. All you other pussies please go back to being pussies. Thanks!— Jason Biggs (@JasonBiggs) July 17, 2014

@JasonBiggs you didn't joke about the deaths , you joked about not wanting to fly on that airline. Where is the issue ?— RolandBishop (@_ThaJuice_) July 17, 2014

@JasonBiggs Is the man. He speaks the truth, you people really don't need to follow him. He's not forcing you to.— Terrell Price (@ThaRealTerrell) July 17, 2014

@JasonBiggs u gotta new follower outta me from tmz lol.. they made ur twitter go platinum!!— donald lewis (@r0m0oo9) July 17, 2014

@JasonBiggs The already have a picture of you amidst the wreckage on TMZ. It's like you shoot down the plane. #witchhunt— John Hynes (@corijon) July 17, 2014

@JasonBiggs keep the funny coming. It in no way was an attack at the people killed in the tragedy. Laughter is lifes natural band aid.— mark bancroft (@poolhalljunke1) July 17, 2014

People on twitter are angrier at @JasonBiggs and his comedic tweets than they are at whoever shot down the fucking plane? Logic.— Vivien Dikeakou (@vivienmariaa) July 17, 2014

Hey @tmz - well done on posting my face next to the wreckage of the plane- you might almost think I actually shot it down!— Jason Biggs (@JasonBiggs) July 17, 2014
