London-based artist Burch Scribbles is a master of colored pencils, using the simple classroom instrument to create hyper-realistic portraits of celebrities like director David Lynch and, in his newest piece, Jay-Z.

Scribbles filmed his entire process and condensed the project down to a stunning time-lapse video. Layering multiple colors on top of each other and adding highlights with a special tool, Scribbles demonstrates his extraordinary talents at capturing skin texture and facial structure to create a portrait that feels like Hova himself is staring into your soul.
