Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera died in plane crash in Mexico on Sunday, inciting a flurry of mournful messages from fans and celebrity colleagues on Twitter.
The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed Monday that 43-year-old Rivera and six others on the flight "were fatally injured" when their Learjet LJ25 crashed Sunday, 70 miles south of Monterrey, Mexico, at 3:30 a.m. local time. Her band was on board.
The photo above shows Rivera's ID, which was found near the wreckage.
Rivera, who has nearly 2 million Twitter followers, received countless tweets in Spanish and English after news of her death spread. Her name topped Google's Hot Trends list Monday.
