LONDON --As a petition to have Jeremy Clarkson reinstated on motoring series Top Gear nears 1 million signatures, his supporters chose an unusual set of wheels to deliver it to the BBC.
Fourteen of them, in fact, attached to a massive tank.
Political blog Guido Fawkes, which launched the petition, was behind the stunt on Friday. It involved a man dressed as Top Gear's famous mascot The Stig, riding the hulking piece of hardware through central London to present the petition.
Host Clarkson was suspended from the popular BBC show last week after a "fracas" with a producer over catering, but a petition calling for his return quickly garnered much support. The incident is the latest in a long line of controversies for Top Gear.

On Thursday, Clarkson reportedly called his BBC bosses "f*cking bastards" at a charity auction in north London.
"The BBC have f*cked themselves," he said. "It was a great show, and they f*cked it up."
Clarkson was auctioning a lap around the Top Gear track at the event at Roundhouse theatre in Camden, according to The Guardian. It went for £100,000 -- the night's highest amount.
A BBC inquiry is considering evidence from the incident, and will report to director-general Tony Hall, who will decide Clarkson's fate next week.
Top Gear is watched by an audience of 350 million globally.
