It seems airlines want to one-up Santa this year. JetBlue surprised stranded people this holiday season with free flights home.
The airline scanned Craigslist's rideshare community board for people searching for a lift to their friends and families' places before Dec. 25. The company reached out to a few lucky people, video chatting with them and asking if they could somehow make it to an airport.
Most of the to-be passengers were confused about the questions -- until JetBlue revealed that they had no plans to drive them to their destination. They were just going to fly them home, for no cost.
JetBlue calls it #FlyItForward, but we're sure these passengers will chalk it up to a Christmas miracle.
WestJet airlines also went viral earlier this month for giving their passengers everything on their holiday wish list, including free gadgets, clothes and flights home.
Both airlines seem to have been bit by the holiday spirit bug (and perhaps a dose of good PR), but hopefully the viral ads will quiet the airport grinches -- at least until next year.
