JetBlue passengers were in for a headache Thursday as technical problems grounded flights and took down the carrier's website for hours.
The airline blamed "intermittent network issues due to a data center power outage" for the problem which first impacted flights out of John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City.

At 1:50 p.m. ET, the airline provided an update on the data center: "Power has been restored to Verizon’s data center and we are working to fully restore our systems as soon as possible,” JetBlue posted on its blog.
The website was up and running again as of 2:30 p.m. ET.

Several airlines have experienced technical problems causing delays in the past year.
Quartz, which has been tracking technical glitches impacting flights, lists the last U.S. commercial aviation disruption as Dec. 2, 2015. The last time JetBlue was impact was March 30, 2015.
JetBlue is based out of New York City. Some customers there reported that passengers were remaining calm -- but like in all situations involving aviation, not everyone was keeping their cool.

Passengers hoping to book tickets are also out of luck; the carrier's website was returning a 503 error.
