Jill Abramson said in an interview late Monday that she is in the planning stages of a new startup that will focus on one big story annually. It will be her first big move since she was fired as executive editor at The New York Times.

Speaking to NPR radio station WBUR, Abramson said she is working with entrepreneur and journalist Steve Brill and speaking to investors.

Video of her interview is set to be released Tuesday evening.

Abramson has kept busy since her sudden firing in May, taking a visiting lecturer position at Harvard University.

She is the second consecutive former executive editor of the Times to go from one of the most powerful positions in journalism to a startup. Bill Keller, who Abramson succeeded at The Times, is working on The Marshall Project, a nonprofit journalism startup that concentrates on the U.S. justice and prison system.
