Joan Collins was arrested for taking part in a protest against the introduction of water charges in Dublin, Ireland, on Monday -- just not THAT Joan Collins.
The veteran shoulder-pad-wearing Dynasty actress took to Twitter to clarify that she wasn't among the 13 people arrested in Dublin for demonstrating against the installation of water meters in Dublin.
No I am not the Joan Collins Who was a rested yesterday At a Dublin protest meeting !!! The very idea!!— Joan Collins (@joancollinsobe) April 21, 2015
Not to be outdone by her namesake, the arrested Irish politician had an excellent comeback for Dame Collins.
For the record I'm not @JoanCollinsOBE as I'd never take an honour from a monarch nor did I wear shoulder pads in the 80s. The very idea!— Joan Collins T.D. (@JoanCollinsTD) April 21, 2015
Ok maybe I wore shoulder pads, there was very little choice in the 80s, but I'd never take an honour from a monarch.— Joan Collins T.D. (@JoanCollinsTD) April 21, 2015
And the two couldn't be more different politically. Irish Joan Collins is a member of the United Left Alliance, a group of independent politicians and left-leaning parties in the Irish parliament, whereas the actress -- a long-time supporter of Margaret Thatcher -- is a patron of the right of centre UK Independence Party.
