Career paths on the rise: What job seekers need to know

Get strategic about your job search. Certain industries are growing faster than others, creating more opportunities in specific locations and industries, and there's data to back it up.

Consider healthcare, for example. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, this industry is expected to account for one-third of all job growth from 2012 to 2022, due in part to the aging Baby Boomer population. Similarly, six of the top 10 cities for job growth from now to 2017 are in the state of Florida, a hub for retirees. This influx of retirees creates the perfect storm of growth: Demand within industries like healthcare and tourism increases, while at the same time, the retired population isn't competing for these jobs.
