A new photograph of five-term Arizona senator and 2008 Republican presidential nominee John McCain is drawing comparisons to a certain dark wizard from J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series.

Yes, Sen. John McCain looks exactly like Lord Voldemort.

Redditor Dam8ti0n was the first to point out the senator's uncanny resemblance to He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Other users were quick to agree -- even highlighting the comparison with a bit of photoshopping.

In the photo, McCain was apparently fooling around with colleagues before a press conference on Jan. 13, and not -- as some may assume -- gazing excitedly at one of his Horcruxes.

For those who remain concerned, a quick check of full-name anagrams will confirm that John Sidney McCain is not, in fact, Lord Voldemort (a.k.a. Tom Marvolo Riddle). The chamber of secrets will stay closed for another year.

So far, neither McCain nor Voldemort has responded to the comparisons online, but Mashable will continue following the story and provide updates.
