John Oliver can see the future.

He knew we would write this post. And he knew we would write this headline.

Oliver took Internet headlines to task in a web exclusive clip on Sunday. While there wasn't a new episode of Last Week Tonight, but fans could get a small fix from Oliver's show.

The anchor has become quite popular online for his segments that go after everything from native advertising to cable companies. He's noticed the media's infatuation with his segments and tendency to maybe just slightly overstate them in headlines -- and he's already one step ahead of us.

"Right now, I'm going to widen my swathe of destruction or to put it in terms the Internet will respond to, what happens at the two-minute mark of this video will amaze you," Oliver said.

He decided to fulfill the Internet's tendency to exaggerate his actions, leveling his ire on something people often actually destroy: piñatas.

"At this point, you're probably thinking, 'Hey, John, stop. You have demolished, slammed, eviscerated, decimated and tea-bagged piñatas," he said. "But you would be wrong because that's not what any of those words mean. Up until this point, I've just made some deservedly mean jokes about them. But now, for the sake of accurate Internet headlines, I will literally destroy them.

Oliver then went to town on the nearest piñata.
