John Stamos was arrested Friday night in Beverly Hills for driving under the influence, the Beverly Hills Police Department confirmed to Mashable on Saturday.

Police stopped the actor near Canon Drive and S. Santa Monica Boulevard around 7:45 p.m., local time, following several complaints about dangerous driving in the area. Stamos, who identified himself to police, was alone in the car at the time.

He was later taken to a nearby hospital for a possible medical condition, where an investigation confirmed his DUI. Police issued a citation for Stamos' arrest, and released him to the care of the hospital. He is set to appear in court on Sept. 11, according to the police department.

Stamos tweeted Saturday afternoon, thanking the hospital and fans.

Thanks to everyone for their love & support. I'm home & well. Very appreciative of the BHPD & Cedars for their care.— John Stamos (@JohnStamos) June 13, 2015

Best known for his role as Uncle Jesse in the '90s sitcom Full House, the actor has a new show called Grandfathered, which will premiere on Fox this fall. He is also set to produce and appear in Netflix's Full House reboot, Fuller House, in 2016.

Stamos is scheduled to co-present the 2015 Emmy Award nominations with Orange Is the New Black's Uzo Aduba on July 16.
