The first teaser trailer for the upcoming Johnny Depp movie, Transcendence, has arrived.
The enigmatic trailer reveals very little about the movie -- a narrator explains the concept of singularity, a theoretical point in humanity's future history when an artificial intelligence becomes greater than human intelligence.

Johnny Depp plays Dr. Will Caster, an AI researcher who's trying to build a sentient machine. The movie is directed by Wally Pfister, best known for his work as a cinematographer on Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy and Inception, for which he has won an Academy Award. Rebecca Hall, Paul Bettany, Kate Mara, Cillian Murphy and Morgan Freeman are co-starring.
The release date for Transcendence is Apr. 18, 2014. Given that Christopher Nolan and the Wachowskis also have a sci-fi flick scheduled to come out next year, 2014 is shaping to be another big year for SF fans.
