No one really knows where Jon Hamm came from -- much like Don Draper, the character that made him famous.

Sure, there are some mutterings about a childhood in St. Louis. You might have heard rumors of years spent pounding the pavement as an out-of-work actor, praying for a guest spot on Gilmore Girls. We're not suggesting that you hack the IRS's database, but you might find something there about a teaching gig or two. Some say he is the doctor that delivered Ellie Kemper, grabbed her tiny baby hand and said, "We will both be famous one day, my child."

Here's what we do know: Jon Hamm is a good-looking man who was great at playing a good-looking man named Don Draper. And now he has a shiny gold statue that proves it.

People were skeptical that a scripted drama about an ad agency would work on AMC. But Jon Hamm soldierd forth anyway diligently knocking on doors and screaming, "Will just look you look at my face? I'm incredible."

And look they did, for seven beautiful seasons of television. It's over now, but he is immortalized in GIFs forever. And also still alive.

So let's party.
