The end is nigh.

Daily Show host Jon Stewart has officially set his a departure date of Aug. 6.

The host made the announcement in the closing moments of Monday night's episode of The Daily Show.

"One quick thing before we go: I mentioned to you that I would keep you up to date on any new information we had about the transition of the program, all those other things," he said. "We do have some specific information. My last Daily Show program will be August 6. I will be wearing a suit and more than likely be showered."

Though well aware of his impending departure, the audience reacted with sadness, to which Stewart joked, "I'm sorry; I will be wearing overalls and won't shower."

Meanwhile, no start date has yet to be officially set for Trevor Noah, who will take over the reins for Stewart. One can assume a couple of things: There will be a short break in between, but Noah's takeover won't be too long after Stewart's exit.

Noah, as you'll recall, found himself at the center of some controversy shortly following his March appointment after old tweets resurfaced and drew ire from the public. Stewart later defended the 31-year-old comedian on air.

For those interested in attending Stewart's final show -- a.k.a, millions of people -- there is an auction taking place for tickets to his final show (travel bells and whistles included) on omaze.com/dailyshow
