Bad theater cell phone etiquette seems to be the scandal of the summer. First, we had the guy who climbed the stage at Hand to God to charge his phone in a non-functional outlet. Then we had Patti Lupone having to snatch an audience member's phone away mid-performance at Shows for Days. Now Jonathan Groff is hitting back at Madonna for her own phone-related misbehavior -- which actually occurred way back in April.

During Hamilton's run at the Public, the Off-Broadway show's creator and star, Lin-Manuel Miranda, put Madge on blast, tweeting "Tonight was the first time I asked stage management NOT to allow a celebrity (who was texting all through Act 2) backstage. #noselfieforyou."

The tweet was later deleted, and Madonna was obviously NOT invited backstage to meet the cast.

Now, in a new interview with Dot429, Groff says he's got no remorse for Madonna, "because that bitch was on her phone. You couldn’t miss it from the stage. It was a black void of the audience in front of us and her face there perfectly lit by the light of her iPhone through three-quarters of the show."

Ouch.

The singer seems to be a repeat offender of bad phone etiquette -- she was also allegedly banned from the Alamo Drafthouse in 2013 for texting in spite of the theater's strict no-talking, no-texting policy.
