Apple's senior vice president of industrial design, Sir Jonathan Ive, will design a limited version of the Leica M camera, company owner Andreas Kaufmann announced yesterday at Leica's special event in Cologne, Germany.

The special version of the camera will be very limited indeed, as only one unit will ever be produced. While this makes it uninteresting to the vast majority of users, the camera's existence has a purpose -- it will be auctioned off with the proceeds being donated to charity.

No technical specifications or other details about the camera have been revealed. The "standard" version of Leica M sports a new 24-megapixel full-frame CMOS image sensor, Leica Maestro image processor, a 3-inch LCD screen, a metal chassis and the ability to record full HD video.
