Last week, Adam Ostrow expressed his moderate apathy about Joost:
"Call me skeptical, but I’m just not seeing how Joost (and others) can create serious value for customers unless they are getting all of the shows at the same time that they are released to everyone else – via television."
Almost as if in direct response, Joost today announced that they'll be carrying as of tomorrow live streaming coverage of March Madness, in a deal struck with Joost investor CBS, according to a report from NewTeeVee this evening. The client required to watch the live coverage should be available tomorrow afternoon, and the first live broadcast will start Thursday at 2 p.m. ET. Don't expect anything to overly exciting, though, it's just a video chat with the Joost technical team to give the software a dry-run.
Certainly, though, if there's anything that can revive Joost, it would be live video events. Still, hardcore sports fans shouldn't be part of the early adopting crowd on the live streaming March Madness events.
