Never before in the history of bar bets did one end with a gyrating Jude Law. Until now, that is.

This just-launched short film for Johnnie Walker Blue Label, distributed by Unruly, features the internationally known leading man cutting a rug to win his friend’s coveted sailboat. He shuffles, he claps, he poses and preens. And then – there it is! – he charmingly shakes his hips. It’s no Miley Cyrus down and dirty -– blink and you may miss it -- but he’s a double Oscar nominee after all.

Law stars with Italian actor Giancarlo Giannini in this gorgeously shot video that sets up a somewhat ridiculous bet. The rich, successful playboy Law wants what he doesn’t have, which would be Giannini’s fabulous “priceless” schooner. It’s not for sale, by the way. But he’s willing to tinkle the ivories and show off some fancy footwork to get it.

Why Giannini would ever agree to this bet is a mystery. Too much Johnnie Walker Blue?

The top-shelf liquor plays a pivotal role in the six-minute film, directed by Ridley Scott’s son, Jake Scott, but its presence doesn’t overwhelm. Its “rarer than rare” brand message comes through clearly without being too front and center.

Law is only the latest in a long line of actors and musicians shilling for booze and beer. Just this week, David Duchovny launched campaign for Siberian Crown that’s garnered mixed-to-middling reviews. Far better received is a recent ad starring Neil Patrick Harris for Heineken Light. Add those to ongoing campaigns with Claire Forlani for Dewar’s Scotch, Bruce Willis for Sobieski vodka, Sean “Diddy” Combs for Ciroc and Marilyn Manson for Absinthe Mansinthe, and you could keep the party going indefinitely.
