Juice Wireless, creators of the moblogging platform JuiceCaster, just raised $4M in a round led by 21Ventures. The company was founded by David Herman, creator of the Hollywood Stock Exchange. From the site:

JuiceCaster is a product of Juice Wireless. Our vision is to transform the world of consumer generated content, social media and blogging by creating and running the most advanced, feature-rich multi-media, multi-device user-friendly consumer generated content network ever...JuiceCaster is designed to enable you not just to create great multi-media content, but to distribute and monetize that content in ways you never even imagined.

As a consumer-facing site, I find JuiceCaster utterly unconvincing - is it mobile photo sharing, or moblogging? Perhaps it's MySpace for cellphones? Frankly, it's hard to tell. There's a distinct lack of direction here that comes across clearly in the quote above - who the heck wants to contribute to a "user-generated content network"? What are the benefits to me as a user, and why should I stick around long enough to find out? Maybe this is another case of everythingitis, or maybe it's an inability to communicate the benefits to the average person. Either way, it needs work.
