LONDON -- WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who is still inside the the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, has been given a kitten to alleviate his loneliness.

The cat, a descendent of the European wildcat, is yet to be named but already has a Twitter account under the handle @EmbassyCat. It was a gift from Assange's young children, ITV reports.

Assange is wanted for questioning in Sweden over allegations he sexually assaulted two women. The WikiLeaks founder has denied all accusations and believes if he leaves the embassy, he will be extradited to the US.

He has been living in the Ecuadorian embassy since 2012, after being granted asylum.

Earlier this year, a United Nations working group found that Sweden and the UK were violating Assange's human rights and urged authorities to release and compensate him for detention without charge.
