Mitt Romney, the Republican Presidential candidate, has joined forces with Jumpcut's video editing site for the Team Mitt contest.

For this effort, you get to make the campaign for his official television advertisement. You can use the images, audio and video clips that are provided for use on Jumpcut's site, and mash them up with your own content to create a 27- or 57-second spot. The contest ends on September 17. The aim is to get supporters involved with the campaign, and of course, further engage the user-generated content crowd.

Could this also be an effort to participate in some level of user-contributed videos without the need to participate in YouTube/CNN's presidential debate? Romney is also scheduled to participate in a MySpaceTV interactive discussion.
