Yahoo has announced that Jumpcut members will soon be required to use Yahoo IDs for logging into the recently acquired video editing service. While users will be able to keep their Jumpcut identity once logged in, Yahoo will need to cross their fingers that there isn’t a similar backlash to the one that erupted when they migrated Flickr users to Yahoo IDs in January.

In an email to users, the company attempts to qualm apprehensions, writing, “you will be able to keep your Jumpcut screen name, as well as bragging rights for being an old school user. Nothing else will change in your Jumpcut profile.” However, the email says the change will occur in “mid June.” Considering today is June 13th, the move may take place before word reaches all of Jumpcut’s users.
