Movies based on theme park rides can go one of three ways. The best-case scenario, of course, is Pirates of the Caribbean; the worst-case scenario is 2003's Haunted Mansion, a bomb that might've marked the nadir of Eddie Murphy's career if Norbit hadn't followed. (The oh-God-please-make-it-stop-case scenario is The Country Bears, which will haunt your dreams thanks to its poster alone.)

Clearly, Disney's hoping to ape the first option with this newly announced project: a film called Jungle Cruise, based on the classic Adventureland jaunt. At the Magic Kingdom, riders spend 10 minutes floating past exotic flora and fauna, plus a politically incorrect band of headhunters.

It's unclear as of yet what'll happen in the movie, though audiences can expect one welcome sight: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported news of the project.

Johnson is currently recording vocals for Disney's upcoming animated feature Moana, a musical about a plucky teen voyaging across the South Pacific. Johnson plays Maui, a demi-god. Seems like a stretch.

As THR notes, Disney's been trying to make a Jungle Cruise movie for at least 10 years. Most recently, Shrek writer Roger S.H. Schulman was tapped to write a version that would star Toy Story duo Tom Hanks and Tim Allen.
