Justin Bieber is chained up underwater on the cover of the new issue of Complex -- in case you were wondering how he feels right now.

The 21-year-old singer doesn't hold back in the accompanying interview, discussing God, Selena Gomez, pissing in a bucket and everything in between. Bieber 2.0 is self aware.

Bieber is ready to move on from the bratty image he cultivated during his teen years. But the singer says he isn't living with regrets -- just trying to learn from his mistakes.

"I wouldn’t do anything over again. I would do it all the same way," Bieber told Complex. "I’m not going to say I’m sorry for the things that I’ve done because I think that it allows me to tell a story."

Now, though, he's focused on his music, and seems to have found his speed collaborating with Diplo, Skrillex and Kanye. Bieber believes that shedding his over-the-top lifestyle will help him become a better artist. "I’ve made myself so unrelatable the past year with all the stuff that I was doing," says Bieber. "Not even bad stuff sometimes, just outrageous stuff. Like, you got a monkey, what are you doing?"

And while Bieber, yes, did have a pet monkey, he's always had one universally relatable subject matter on his side -- heartbreak. The star says he's currently dating someone new, but still recovering from his intense relationship with Selena Gomez -- admitting that he was not ready to move in with his girlfriend at 18.

Bieber also opens up about how Christianity has given him the guidance he needs -- and often didn't get growing up from his parents and other adults who were looking out for themselves first. He doesn't attend church, but considers his faith a vital grounding force in his life.

"I think that’s where we need to be. Like I said, you don’t need to go to church to be a Christian," Bieber said. "If you go to Taco Bell, that doesn’t make you a taco."

Millions of non-Taco humans can attest that Bieber has a good point.
