Indian actress Kalki Koechlin's new video "The Printing Machine" tackles the media's portrayal of women, in a powerful example of performative poetry.

In the YouTube video, Koechlin recites her satirical poem on the sensationalist approach taken by news outlets and social media in reporting incidents of violence against women, referring to several gangrapes and acid attacks in recent years. Koechlin has said that the poem was inspired by the "onslaught of objectifying and horrific news reports and imagery that have desensitised us."

In the past, Koechlin has spoken about feminism and women's rights extensively, through a live 2014 performance on the truths of womanhood, and a YouTube sketch on how women are blamed rape cases in India.
