Kanye West to Enter MTV Record Books With 7th VMAs Performance

On the heels of announcing Lady Gaga as a performer for the MTV Video Music Awards, the network revealed Monday that Kanye West will also hit the stage on Aug. 25 to perform "Black Skinhead." This will mark the seventh time West has graced the VMAs stage -- tying Madonna's record for most performances since the awards show launched in 1984.

MTV made the announcement from the Brooklyn Bridge, fittingly, as it's nearby VMAs venue Barclays Center. MTV unveiled the news on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Vine.

Previously, West performed “Otis” with Jay Z in 2011, “Runaway” in 2010, "Love Lockdown” in 2008, “Stronger” and “Good Life” with T-Pain in 2007, “Gold Digger” with Jamie Foxx in 2005, and “Jesus Walks/All Falls Down/Through The Wire” with Chaka Khan in 2004.
