Taylor Swift isn't laughing, apparently.

Despite a report in TMZ, it seems Taylor Swift was not okay with Kanye West's less-than-complimentary lyrics about her in his new track "Famous."

Hours after Kanye premiered his new album The Life of Pablo on Thursday, the site reported that Swift was completely aware of the fact that Kanye's new track included the lyrics "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex, I made that bitch famous." The rapper reportedly called her directly to explain it was a joke, and that Taylor "gave him the thumbs up to release the song with the lyric."

But a representative for Swift tells Mashable that's not exactly what happened:

Kanye did not call for approval, but to ask Taylor to release his single "Famous" on her Twitter account. She declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message. Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric, "I made that bitch famous."

Taylor and Kanye have had a contentious relationship since 2009 -- naturally -- but seemingly have made up since then. Swift even presented West with the Video Vanguard Award at the 2015 VMAs.
