"Roar" singer Katy Perry somehow found time before the North American leg of her Prismatic World Tour kicks off this week to launch a new record label. Perry unveiled Metamorphosis Music, her joint record label with Capitol Records, on Tuesday.

Musician Ferras, who Perry has known since 2007 when both were newly signed artists on Capitol, is the first person to release music through the new label; Ferras' self-titled EP debuted simultaneously with the Metamorphosis Music announcement.

A pink-clad Perry and piano-playing Ferras previously performed a duet of his song "Rush" at South by Southwest in 2008 (listen, below).

Perry also makes a cameo on Ferras' "Legends Never Die" from his just-released EP, which features four other songs, and lists Perry as executive producer.

"Ferras is a man with a message and a unique lyrical way of communicating his perspective on life that makes you feel connected to every note when you listen," Perry said in a statement. "'Speak in Tongues' is a song with raw emotional power that I wish I wrote. I believe he is going to be an important artist to watch unfold."

You can listen to the 29-year-old's EP, here:

"I think of every song as having its own world," Ferras said. "I try not to categorize it; it's a pop record with many different textures, but it's definitely dark in places."

Perry will push Ferras further into the limelight starting Sunday, when Ferras begins his four-month stint as the opening act on her Prismatic World Tour.
